At the heart of our prevention efforts is Stewards of Children®, the flagship training program from Darkness to Light (D2L)—the only award-winning, evidence-informed, adult-focused child sexual abuse prevention training in the United States proven to increase knowledge and change behavior. As part of DSL’s core programming, this training empowers adults to recognize, prevent, and appropriately respond to abuse. By equipping caregivers, educators, church leaders, and community members with these tools, we’re not just supporting survivors—we’re actively working to stop abuse at its source, breaking cycles of silence and preventing harm before it happens.
Our Safe House is one of the most critical lifelines we offer—a place of immediate refuge for women and children escaping abuse. Making the decision to leave an abuser is one of the most courageous—and dangerous—steps a survivor can take. Many do so with nothing but the clothes on their back, and nowhere safe to turn. That’s why our emergency shelter exists: to provide instant safety, warmth, and care in those crucial first hours and days. Here, survivors find not only a secure place to stay, but access to our support staff, legal guidance, spiritual care if desired, and a loving community ready to surround them with compassion. The Safe House is more than a roof—it’s a sanctuary of hope and the first step toward healing and freedom.
At Del Silencio a la Libertad, we believe true healing begins when survivors are seen, heard, and supported—legally, emotionally, and spiritually. That’s why we provide free access to trusted legal advisors who help victims navigate the overwhelming process of reporting abuse, pursuing justice, and understanding their rights. But legal action is only part of the journey. Emotional healing is just as vital. Our trained team offers trauma-informed care, ongoing counseling, and a safe, judgment-free space where survivors can begin to process their pain and reclaim their voice.
